Visiting Byron Bay is all about the beaches and there are plenty of beauties to discover such as Wategos Beach.
Wategoes Beach is a pristine paradise, only 600m in length it is quaint with the picturesque mountains in the background behind the bay. Lined with pandanas trees, you will quite likely find a shady hollow to tuck up under between dips in the cool blue waters.
There are free electric barbecues and a great grassy picnic area with tables.
A long sandbar and reef and northerly swells makes it an ideal surf beach for long boards, Malibus and learners. And the beach is patrolled by lifeguards during summer to make it safe for swimmers.
Access via Lighthouse Road and left-hand turn into Brooke Drive and your there. There is a stunning walking trail from The Pass.
