Take a road trip to the nearby township of Lennox Head and enjoy a refreshing dip in Lake Ainsworth.
A large fresh water lagoon, Lake Ainsworth is situated north of the main part of town and approximately 50 metres back from the beach dunes.
The most unique characteristic of this beautiful lake is that it is permanently discolored by ti-trea (tea-tree) tannins that leach from the trees surrounding the lake. The ti-trea water is said to have health giving and rejuvenating properties.
The lake is very large and perfect for swimming, stand up paddle boards, kayaking and canoeing.
Lake Ainsworth is complemented by great barbecue and picnic facilities, and lots of shady trees. There are also plenty of cafes and shops nearby.
You’ll find Lake Ainsworth at the end of Pacific Parade, Lennox Head. Approximately a 20-25 minute drive from your Byron Bay accommodation at Byron Quarter.
