Cape Byron Lighthouse Maritime Museum When visiting Byron Bay a trip to the iconic Cape Byron Lighthouse is a must. While you’re there why not head inside to the one-time head lighthouse keepers office, which now houses the Cape Byron Lighthouse Maritime Museum.
The museum gives visitors an insight into the life of a lighthouse keeper and their families in the days prior to fully-automated lighthouses.
Within the museum you’ll also see images and artefacts from the days when Byron Bay was known for whale hunting rather than whale watching.
The museum is run by dedicated volunteer staff who are at the museum seven days a week to answer your questions, guided tours to the top of the lighthouse are also available, depending on visitor numbers.
Entry is free, Lighthouse tours by donation.
The Cape Byron Lighthouse Maritime Museum is one of the many great things to you can do from your Byron accommodation staying at Byron Quarter Holiday Apartments.
